University Teacher – Statistics & Data Science

About the role

The School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh is seeking a University Teacher to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Statistics and Data Science on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics and data science.
• Assess student work, provide feedback and support academic progress.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of courses and programmes.
• Participate in teaching administration and provide academic support to students.
• Engage in scholarly activities within the School of Mathematics.

Required profile

• PhD in Statistics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience of teaching in higher education with a growing teaching portfolio.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Ability to plan, initiate projects and support the development of others.

Required skills

• Statistical theory and methods.
• Data science concepts and techniques.
