VAT Associate Director – Senior Tax Advisory

About the role

This senior position sits within a highly regarded Indirect Tax team at a Top 10 UK accountancy practice. You will act as a trusted adviser on complex VAT matters, shaping client relationships and contributing to the growth of the VAT practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex VAT advisory engagements for a diverse client base.
• Interpret UK VAT legislation and case law, providing commercially focused advice.
• Own client relationships from scoping through delivery, supporting Directors and Partners on key accounts.
• Produce high‑quality written advice and reports for senior and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members, ensuring technical excellence and professional development.
• Collaborate across service lines to identify integrated solutions and new advisory opportunities.
• Contribute to business development, thought leadership, and practice growth.

Required profile

• Significant VAT/Indirect Tax advisory experience gained in practice or in‑house.
• Proven track record of advising on complex UK VAT matters and leading client engagements.
• Experience managing and developing teams, with confidence to lead projects and client discussions.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly and commercially.
• Strong organisational abilities and capacity to manage multiple advisory projects concurrently.
