Vice President, Research Ecosystem Initiatives

About the role

This newly created Vice President position provides strategic leadership for a portfolio of high‑impact, multi‑publisher initiatives that shape the future of trusted research communication. Based in London, the role works across Springer Nature’s brands to strengthen the global research ecosystem and promote responsible use of research.

Key responsibilities

• Define, mobilise and lead collective‑action programmes in partnership with publishers, standards bodies, research institutions and funders.
• Establish governance frameworks, prioritise initiatives and secure senior stakeholder alignment.
• Represent Springer Nature on industry steering committees and working groups, driving vision and purpose across programmes.
• Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, Academic Affairs and other senior leaders to ensure aligned messaging and maximise impact.
• Monitor progress against strategic milestones and adjust programmes to meet evolving ecosystem needs.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in research publishing, academic ecosystems or related sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and align diverse senior stakeholders across global organisations.
• Strong strategic thinking, governance and programme management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and external representation skills.
