Water Engineer – Clean Water Network Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Water Engineer to join a well‑established water utilities contractor operating across the South West of England. The role is hands‑on, site‑based and involves maintaining and repairing clean water networks for residential and commercial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain water mains and services, including leak detection and repairs.
• Carry out excavations, connections, and reinstatement works.
• Lead a small gang, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency on all tasks.
• Operate cat‑walkers, generators and other plant equipment as required.
• Communicate professionally with customers and the public while adhering to health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience on clean water networks.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Water Hygiene Card.
• NRSWA Street Works Certification (essential for team leaders/gangers).
• Experience repairing/laying water mains, connections, leak repairs and reinstatement.
• Ability to lead or run a small gang.

Required skills

• Cat & Genny operation.
• Excavator/Dumper operation.
• First Aid qualification.
• Manual handling and lifting operations knowledge.
• Banksman certification (desirable).
