Youth Outreach Worker – Schools & Community Support

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Youth Outreach Worker to support secondary‑school pupils who are disengaged, at risk of exclusion, or facing social and emotional challenges. The role bridges the gap between the classroom, home, and the local community, helping young people re‑integrate into learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions for pupils with complex backgrounds, school phobia, or behavioural issues.
• Act as a liaison between schools, families, and external support services to improve attendance and engagement.
• Run practical mentoring sessions using sports, outdoor activities, and team‑building exercises to build resilience and emotional regulation.
• Provide calm, stabilising presence in challenging situations and support behaviour management.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with teenagers.
• Resilient, composed and able to thrive in fast‑paced, unpredictable environments.
• Background in the military, emergency services, sports coaching, youth work or social care is highly valued.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel between sites.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and complete safeguarding training.
