7.5T Customer Delivery Driver Trainee, Technician

About the role

John Lewis is recruiting a Driver Technician Trainee for its 7.5T Customer Delivery Hub at Brooklands, Weybridge. Through a 3-month trainee programme, you will become a fully qualified Customer Delivery Technician with a C1 driving licence. Fully trained, you will work in a 2-person crew delivering and installing products such as furniture, large appliances, sound systems and TV sets into customers' homes. Applicants must be 18 or over by the start date.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an ambassador for the John Lewis brand, prioritising excellent customer service.
• Perform daily checks and help load the vehicle with deliveries, working with the warehouse team.
• Treat customers' homes with respect and solve unexpected situations to the best of your ability.
• Install products such as wall-mounted TVs, integrated appliances and hard-wired installations, showing them how they work once set up.
• Keep up to date with new products and technologies.
• Follow legal driving regulations, including the Working Time Directive and EU regulations, and comply with health and safety rules.

Required profile

• UK B-category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Good verbal communication, over the phone and in person.
• Desirable: prior installation and customer delivery experience, and previous role model or team leader experience.
• The role involves heavy lifting of large items such as sofas, white goods, furniture, beds and mattresses.

What we offer

• Pay of £30,000 to £37,700 per year, with evening premium (£2.75) and night premium (£3.75) on top of contractual pay.
• Permanent position, 41 hours per week across 4 days on a 5-week rota, Monday to Saturday 06:00-17:00.
