Accountant – SME Portfolio – Wokingham

About the role

We are looking for an ACCA/ACA qualified Accountant to join a well‑established practice on the outskirts of Wokingham. The role will involve managing a mixed portfolio of SME clients, providing accounts, tax and VAT support while working within a friendly, high‑retention team.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for allocated clients, handling enquiries promptly and accurately.
• Prepare accounts for SME clients under FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105.
• Assist the VAT team with quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
• Advise clients on salary, dividends and personal tax matters, including Personal Tax Returns.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships to ensure retention.
• Work collaboratively to meet deadlines and independently when required.

Required profile

• Qualified ACCA or ACA (exceptional experience may be considered).
• Significant accounts preparation and tax experience gained within a UK practice.
• Proficiency with accountancy software such as Sage, IRIS, FreeAgent or Kashflow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
