Accounting and Business Advisory Service – Senior Manager

About the role

This senior manager position will establish and grow the Accounting and Business Advisory Service (ABAS) function in Manchester. You will lead business development, deliver high‑quality client services and build a high‑performing team to support the wider Northwest region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a portfolio of new and existing clients, ensuring timely delivery of accounts, tax computations, advisory reports and management information.
• Drive business development by networking in the Manchester market, generating leads, contributing to tenders and marketing initiatives.
• Maintain technical compliance with accounting, tax and regulatory standards and support quality‑assurance processes.
• Lead, coach and grow a new team, delegating work, conducting performance reviews and fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture.
• Identify cross‑selling opportunities, manage client issues and ensure accurate client records and workflow systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior accounting or advisory roles with a track record of winning new business.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, capable of building and motivating a new team.
• Excellent client‑service orientation and ability to manage complex projects within deadlines and budgets.
• Deep knowledge of UK accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Effective communication and networking abilities within the Manchester business community.
