Accounts and Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Accounts and Tax Manager to join a leading accountancy practice in Bristol. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s direction, building lasting client partnerships, and supporting the continued growth of the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, including limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Review year‑end accounts, corporation tax returns and personal tax computations.
• Act as the primary adviser for clients, providing practical support throughout the year.
• Plan workloads, monitor deadlines and ensure efficient delivery of work.
• Lead, coach and develop members of the accounts team.
• Review completed work to ensure compliance with professional and technical standards.
• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
• Collaborate with senior management on process improvements and business growth initiatives.
• Support the expansion and success of the Bristol office.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent recognised professional qualification.
• Extensive recent practice experience in accounting and taxation.
• Previous experience managing or supervising an accounts team.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and taxation.
• Good understanding of FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships.
• Well‑organised, able to prioritise competing deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
