Accounts & Audit Senior – Accounting Practice

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts & Audit Senior to join an established accountancy practice in Stockton-on-Tees. The position offers a varied mix of audit, accounts preparation and client advisory responsibilities across a diverse portfolio of small and medium‑size enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts and audit assignments for a varied client portfolio.
• Prepare year‑end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Carry out audit fieldwork, identify issues and ensure accurate documentation.
• Assist with corporation tax computations and other compliance requirements.
• Act as a key contact for clients, providing professional support and advice.
• Review work completed by junior team members and provide guidance.
• Manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge and regulatory changes.
• Contribute ideas to improve processes and enhance client service.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience.
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong background in both audit and accounts preparation.
• Experience working with SMEs and owner‑managed businesses.
• Confident communicator with strong client‑facing skills.
• Well‑organised with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
• Proactive team player who enjoys supporting colleagues and developing others.
