Acoustic Engineer – Building Acoustics & On‑Site Testing

About the role

Penguin Recruitment, on behalf of its client, is looking for a motivated Acoustic Engineer to join a dynamic team. The role focuses on building acoustics and on‑site testing across a variety of commercial projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and high acoustic performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sound insulation testing in line with standards such as Approved Document E.
• Perform air‑tightness testing to meet Building Regulations requirements.
• Carry out acoustic measurements, site surveys and analyse the resulting data.
• Provide technical expertise on acoustic design and noise‑control strategies.
• Prepare clear, accurate technical reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and design teams to deliver practical acoustic solutions.
• Travel to project sites and ensure work is completed to professional standards.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant subject area.
• Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).
• Proven experience in acoustic and air‑tightness testing.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations related to acoustics.
• Excellent analytical and reporting abilities with attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• CSCS card or equivalent site qualification.
