Acute Medicine Consultant

About the role

The Acute Medicine Consultant will join a growing team delivering high‑quality acute care across three hospital sites. Working closely with Emergency Medicine and all medical specialties, you will help shape clinical pathways that improve patient outcomes and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ward rounds on the Acute Medicine Unit (AMU) and support the multidisciplinary team.
• Take patients directly from the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways.
• Supervise patients returning to SDEC ambulatory clinics and manage acute medicine out‑patient services.
• Provide educational and clinical supervision for IMT doctors, junior doctors and medical students.
• Contribute to service development, clinical process improvement and departmental meetings.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Acute Medicine, with a track record of delivering safe, efficient care.
• Ability to work flexibly, including part‑time or less‑than‑full‑time arrangements.
• Interest in teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
• Willingness to collaborate with Emergency Medicine and other specialties.
