About the role

Amazon is seeking a 2026 Applied Scientist Intern to join its University Talent Acquisition program. The internship focuses on cutting‑edge research in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, large language models, speech technology, robotics, computer vision, optimization, operations research, quantum computing, automated reasoning, and formal methods. Interns will work alongside Amazon scientists to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions that address real‑world problems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end systems for research projects.
• Write technical white papers and create roadmaps for proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with senior scientists and other interns to prototype and productionize algorithms.
• Develop new models, algorithms, or technical approaches in the chosen research domain.
• Present findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a PhD or Master’s program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong academic record with interest in advanced AI and scientific research.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, cross‑functional teams.
