Apprentice Trading Standards Officer

About the role

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking a full‑time Apprentice Trading Standards Officer. This permanent hybrid role offers a salary between £30,193 and £34,104 per year and provides the opportunity to work towards a Level 6 Trading Standards Professional (TSP) apprenticeship over three years, with a particular focus on illegal vape‑related legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Protect residents and support honest businesses by enforcing fair‑trading and consumer‑protection laws.
• Tackle rogue traders and investigate consumer complaints.
• Develop expertise in illegal vape legislation and related enforcement activities.
• Provide administrative and investigative support to senior Trading Standards officers.
• Contribute to the team’s business‑plan objectives and reporting.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about public protection and fair trading.
• Curious, detail‑oriented and eager to learn.
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Organised and capable of balancing study with work commitments.
