Area Manager – Commercial Cleaning (Surrey & Hampshire)

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of commercial cleaning contracts across Surrey, Hampshire and surrounding areas. This hands‑on operational role involves leading teams, building client relationships and ensuring high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational performance of multiple commercial cleaning contracts.
• Lead, motivate and develop supervisors and cleaning operatives.
• Build and maintain positive client relationships through regular communication and site visits.
• Conduct scheduled site inspections and audits to monitor service quality, health & safety compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Handle staffing requirements including recruitment, induction, scheduling, absence cover and employee relations.
• Coordinate with HR, payroll and internal support teams for accurate administration and compliance.
• Manage stock levels and order cleaning materials and equipment within budget.
• Monitor labour costs and operational expenditure to meet financial targets.
• Investigate and resolve client queries or service issues promptly.
• Support mobilisation of new contracts and contract renewals.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and company policies such as Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing multi‑site commercial cleaning operations.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and client‑relationship skills.
• Organised, customer‑focused and able to balance operational priorities.
