Area Sales Manager - Building & Plumbing Tools

About the role

The Area Sales Manager will lead field sales of a mid‑market range of hand tools for the building trade across London. You will work directly with independent builders merchants, plumbing merchants, DIY & hardware stores and other independent retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 300 accounts.
• Achieve a turnover target of around £550,000.
• Generate new business by onboarding independent retail customers (2‑3 month onboarding cycle).
• Promote the product range within the NMBS Buying Society to increase volume sales.
• Maintain strong relationships with merchants and ensure repeat orders.

Required profile

• Proven field sales experience selling to independent merchants.
• Open to selling any building products; specific hand‑tool experience not required.
• IT‑proficient and comfortable using computers for sales administration.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and willing to roll up sleeves.

What we offer

• Base salary £45,000 per year plus uncapped commission (minimum £7,500 in year one).
• £5,400 car allowance and £240 mobile allowance.
