Aspiring Child Counsellor / Learning Support Assistant (SEN)

About the role

We are seeking a recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology to join our inclusive special school in Chichester as an Aspiring Child Counsellor / Learning Support Assistant. Working alongside experienced therapists and staff, you will help pupils with special educational needs develop emotional regulation, social skills and access to learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEN.
• Assist in implementing individual learning and care plans.
• Observe, monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
• Help create a structured, safe classroom atmosphere.
• Deliver personal care when required.

Required profile

• Degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology or a related discipline.
• Genuine interest in child development, mental health or therapeutic practice.
• Empathy, patience and resilience.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive, reflective attitude and ability to commute to Chichester.
