Assistant Accountant – Finance Team (Bath)

About the role

Join a growing SME in Bath as an Assistant Accountant, supporting the finance team in a fast‑paced, supportive environment. This position is ideal for a part‑qualified accountant or an experienced finance professional looking to expand their responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and performing balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including fixed‑asset register maintenance.
• Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns and other statutory submissions.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for management.
• Participate in process‑improvement projects within finance.

Required profile

• AAT qualified, qualified by experience, or currently studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
