Assistant Accountant

About the role

This is a full‑time Assistant Accountant role based in Bath, supporting the finance function of a growing agency. You will become a trusted member of the team, helping to ensure financial accuracy and supporting commercial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, prepare payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
• Raise client invoices promptly and monitor outstanding debt, chasing overdue payments.
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Assist with bank reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end processes.
• Support cash‑flow reporting, billing forecasts and management reporting.
• Work closely with colleagues to verify purchase orders and billing information.
• Reconcile supplier invoices against media spend and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and increase efficiency.
• Act as an approachable finance contact for the wider business.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in an accounts or finance role.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Confident communication with suppliers, clients and internal teams.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach and ability to work independently.
• AAT qualification or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA is advantageous.
• Experience in a media, advertising or professional services environment is a plus.
• Full‑time office presence required.
