Assistant Buyer

About the role

Galliford Try’s Environment Division is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Southern Region procurement team. The role involves sourcing materials, plant and subcontract services for projects with Southern Water and Affinity Water, working in a hybrid setting from Sussex/Rickmansworth.

Key responsibilities

• Support the procurement of materials, plant and subcontract services across Southern Region projects.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, raise purchase orders and ensure compliance with procurement procedures.
• Collaborate with procurement, commercial and operational teams to review project‑level procurement schedules and secure best value.
• Assist project teams in forecasting material needs, managing lead times and monitoring supplier performance.
• Support tender enquiries, tender analysis and procurement schedule reviews.
• Ensure adherence to client framework agreements and Galliford Try procurement standards.

Required profile

• Ability to work closely with project teams and senior buyers.
• Strong organisational skills to manage purchase orders and supplier data.
• Attention to detail to maintain compliance with procurement standards.
