Assistant Caretaker – Community & Site

About the role

Woking College is expanding its Estates team and seeks an Assistant Caretaker to provide a visible, friendly security presence while supporting day‑to‑day maintenance across the campus. You will help keep the site safe, clean and well‑maintained for students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the campus, car parks and access points.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, respond to incidents and act as a key holder when required.
• Engage positively with students, encouraging ID use and appropriate behaviour.
• Perform basic repairs, DIY tasks and preventative maintenance.
• Assist with cleaning, waste management and general upkeep of communal areas.
• Receive deliveries, move furniture and equipment, and prepare rooms for events such as exams and open evenings.

Required profile

• Professional, approachable attitude with a focus on safety and community.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a proactive team.
• Willingness to respond to call‑outs and work flexible hours when needed.

Required skills
