Assistant Catastrophe Analyst

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Catastrophe Analyst to join the Exposure Management team of a leading insurance company in London. This entry‑level position offers full training and the chance to develop expertise in catastrophe modelling, portfolio analytics and insurance risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Support underwriters with exposure analysis, aggregation services and portfolio reporting.
• Use catastrophe modelling and aggregation tools to assess potential losses and risk exposures.
• Maintain and update policy and exposure data within modelling systems.
• Monitor and improve the quality and integrity of exposure information.
• Collaborate with offshore teams to resolve data and modelling queries.
• Assist with exposure management projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Produce analytical outputs for internal reporting, capital modelling, reinsurance requirements and regulatory submissions.
• Support post‑event loss analysis and portfolio roll‑up processes.

Required profile

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Finance, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Physics, Statistics or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including data manipulation and Pivot Tables.
• Ability to work accurately with large datasets and manage multiple priorities.
• High attention to detail and proactive learning attitude.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
