Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Financial Accountant will support the Senior Financial Accountant in maintaining the Fixed Asset module and IFRS16 lease software, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger. This full‑time permanent position is based at the Brighton head office and can be performed remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Fixed Asset module and IFRS16 lease system across the group.
• Post month‑end journals such as depreciation, amortisation and lease journals.
• Prepare and reconcile accounting entries globally under IFRS16 and IAS17.
• Ensure accurate coding of invoices, expenses and other items.
• Produce monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and support year‑end and interim audit schedules.
• Complete ONS surveys when required.
• Approve payments via the HSBC banking system.
• Develop relationships with FP&A, Estate and IT teams and liaise with auditors.
• Assist with ad‑hoc finance projects and system improvements.

Required profile

• Currently studying ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
• Experience preparing general‑ledger journals and high‑volume balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for non‑finance audiences.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Team‑oriented mindset.
