Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

Headstar, a £55m turnover e‑commerce business, is looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to work directly under the current Financial Controller. This is a structured, two‑year succession plan that will see you take full ownership of the FC role in 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare end‑to‑end management accounts and month‑end reporting.
• Provide commercial insight through profit and margin analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
• Manage stock costing and forecasting activities.
• Oversee the transactional finance function and a small finance team.
• Shadow the current Financial Controller and gradually assume full FC responsibilities.

Required profile

• 2+ years post‑qualified experience (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong management accounting background with commercial exposure.
• Experience managing or overseeing a small team is a plus.
• Ability to build relationships with commercial stakeholders.
• Genuine ambition to progress to a Financial Controller role.
