Assistant General Manager - Gym Club

About the role

JD Gyms is looking for an Assistant General Manager for its Bromborough club. You will work closely with the General Manager to support the day-to-day running of the club, keeping operational standards high, helping colleagues develop and contributing to membership and commercial goals. The role also involves creating a positive, safe and welcoming environment for colleagues and members.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook, and maintain the JD Gyms Brand Standard
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly safety checks, report defects and follow up on them so the building and equipment stay safe
• Recruit and manage a team of employed Fitness Coaches and General Assistants, and hold regular team meetings to support development
• Support membership, revenue and commercial targets, and maximise secondary spending revenue
• Keep the facility clean and make sure in-house cleaners meet the required standard
• Manage the weekly banking process so wastage and variance are kept to a minimum
• Deliver outstanding member service and represent JD Gyms values in all interactions

Required profile

• Experience leading and developing colleagues in a leisure, fitness, hospitality or customer-focused environment
• Commitment to excellent member service and the ability to coach and develop colleagues
• Experience contributing to membership growth and commercial performance, including local marketing and team recruitment
• Experience supporting operations, people leadership and commercial performance in a leisure or customer-focused setting

Required skills

• Qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Effective leadership and coaching
