Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a fast‑growing marketing research business in central London. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will support day‑to‑day transactional work and assist with month‑end processes, helping the finance team deliver accurate financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end activities, including journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain Excel models and produce regular AR and AP reports for cash‑flow management.
• Own the accounts receivable process – invoicing, credit control, and aged debt management.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.
• Manage accounts payable, ensuring correct coding and preparing payment runs.
• Oversee the shared finance inbox, resolving supplier and customer queries.
• Perform bank reconciliations and keep financial records up to date in Xero.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, controls, and system workflows.
• Document procedures and support the ongoing development of the finance function.

Required profile

• 2‑3+ years of experience in a finance role handling AP and AR.
• Experience supporting month‑end procedures.
• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Evidence of process‑streamlining, preferably in a small‑business environment.
• Early‑stage student or part‑qualified (AAT, ACCA, or CIMA).
