Assistant Professor – Qualitative Research in Health Screening

About the role
The University of Warwick is seeking an Assistant Professor (Research‑Focused) to lead qualitative research within the NIHR‑funded Service Evaluation of Newborn Screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SENS) study. The role involves collecting and analysing data to assess the acceptability of newborn screening across seven English regions.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct sensitive interviews and focus groups with diverse participants.
- Manage and analyse large volumes of qualitative data using NVivo.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team to integrate findings into the broader study.
- Produce high‑quality research outputs and communicate results to academic and public audiences.
- Travel to multiple sites for in‑person data collection as required.
Required profile
- Experienced qualitative researcher with a background in health screening, maternity care, or a related field.
- PhD or equivalent research experience.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive participant interactions and large data sets.
- Highly organised, excellent communicator, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proactive, flexible, and willing to travel for data collection.
Required skills
- NVivo for qualitative data analysis.
