Assistant Quarry Manager

About the role

Breedon Group plc is seeking a motivated and safety‑conscious Assistant Quarry Manager to support day‑to‑day operations at its quarry in Beauly, Scotland. Reporting to the Quarry Manager, you will help oversee production, ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, and act as the “Responsible Person” when the manager is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and scheduling production activities such as blasting, crushing, screening and stockpiling.
• Support the Quarry Manager to meet production targets safely, efficiently and within budget.
• Participate in quality control to ensure material specifications are met.
• Monitor equipment and oversee preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of output, stock levels, maintenance and safety incidents.
• Help manage budgets, control costs and assist with ordering consumables and spare parts.
• Contribute to long‑term quarry development and rehabilitation planning.
• Supervise and coordinate colleagues and contractors, assigning duties and monitoring performance.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and support safety programmes.
• Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments and report defects.
• Deputise for the Quarry Manager as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with quarry management systems.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
