Associate/Scientific Editor – Microbiology (iScience)

About the role

Join Cell Press’s iScience editorial team as an Associate/Scientific Editor focusing on microbiology. You will help shape high‑impact research across life sciences, support peer review, and collaborate with global researchers to ensure rigorous, inclusive scientific communication.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the novelty and impact of submitted microbiology manuscripts.
• Oversee the peer‑review process for direct and transferred submissions.
• Build and maintain relationships with authors, reviewers, and editorial board members.
• Recruit original research papers and review articles for iScience.
• Represent iScience and Cell Press at scientific meetings and research institutions.
• Collaborate with internal editors and cross‑functional teams across Cell Press.

Required profile

• PhD in a life‑science discipline, preferably Microbiology.
• Post‑doctoral research experience is a strong advantage.
• At least 2 years of editorial or related experience.
• Interest in interdisciplinary research and ability to think critically across scientific topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
