Band 5 Dietitian – Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary

About the role

We are looking for a newly qualified or soon‑to‑qualify Dietitian to join our Band 5 Dietetic Service at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. The role offers a blend of acute and community work across a wide range of specialties in a supportive, rural Scottish setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nutritional assessment and support for surgical, medical, rehabilitation, elderly, diabetes, renal and community patients.
• Deliver dietetic care within the acute hospital and community teams throughout Dumfries & Galloway.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to develop and implement nutrition care plans.
• Participate in regular CPD activities and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Dietitian or final‑year student eligible for Band 5 registration.
• Current driving licence (or ability to arrange alternative transport if a disability prevents holding one).
• Willingness to work in a rural environment and travel between acute and community sites.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Competence in nutrition assessment and dietetic planning.
• Knowledge of nutrition support for surgical, medical, renal, diabetes and elderly populations.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
