Behaviour Mentor

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist school in Chelmsford that supports children and young people who cannot access mainstream education due to trauma, behavioural challenges, or special educational needs. You will work one‑to‑one and in small groups, building trusting relationships that promote engagement, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver personalised behaviour support strategies for pupils.
• Assist students in managing emotions and accessing learning in a safe, structured environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to create holistic support plans.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions to ensure positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and student development.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, SEMH, autism, ADHD, trauma or other additional needs.
• Calm under pressure with strong communication abilities.
• Passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them achieve their potential.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
