BIM Developer – Custom Tool Development (Bristol)

About the role

We are looking for a BIM Developer to join our Bristol office and help evolve our suite of custom BIM tools used by civil engineering teams on major infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing and extending these tools to improve efficiency, quality and consistency across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of an existing internal suite of BIM‑related tools and plug‑ins, analysing, maintaining and expanding them in line with new project requirements and user feedback.
• Collaborate with other BIM Developers and the BIM Manager to clarify requirements, assess feasibility and prioritise enhancements.
• Respond to tool users’ feedback, propose improvements and participate in internal meetings and tool reviews.
• Use GitLab for version control, maintain clear documentation of revisions, user guides and testing notes in English, and ensure controlled, traceable deployments.
• Integrate tools with commercial BIM platforms such as Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit and Navisworks via available APIs.

Required profile

• Right to work in the United Kingdom and based in Bristol.
• Experience developing and maintaining BIM‑related software tools or plug‑ins.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary BIM team.
• Strong communication skills in English for documentation and user support.

Required skills

• GitLab for source‑code version control.
• API integration with Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
• Knowledge of BIM environments and 3D modelling workflows.
