Biogas Day Shift Operator

About the role

The Day Shift Operator will work on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract at a biogas plant in Portgordon. You will be responsible for running the anaerobic digestion process, monitoring plant performance and ensuring safe, efficient operation of all equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the anaerobic digestion plant and associated equipment using SCADA and manual controls.
• Conduct daily walk‑arounds, take meter readings and assess equipment condition.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and log findings in the CMMS.
• Carry out basic laboratory tests to support process control.
• Operate mobile plant equipment such as telehandlers and forklift trucks.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety.
• Monitor the plant remotely once trained and competent.
• Undertake any additional duties as required by the Process Team Leader.

Required profile

• Minimum NC level in a related engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, chemical) or equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience in an operations/process operator role.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, heavy‑processing environment.
• Hands‑on attitude and strong team orientation.
