Catering Assistant

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a motivated Catering Assistant to join the Bramble Café team at Ayrshire Central Hospital. You will support the delivery of high‑quality food services to patients, staff, visitors and function guests in a safe and respectful environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, portioning and plating for the café and occasional patient meals.
• Serve food and beverages, including coffee and tea, to customers and hospital staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment and dining spaces, including wash‑up duties.
• Support the patient meal service when required, ensuring timely delivery.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.

Required profile

• Good verbal communication and practical skills.
• Barista experience is advantageous; full training will be provided.
• Current Food Hygiene Certificate preferred, or willingness to obtain it within the first three months.
• Commitment to attend corporate induction and mandatory statutory training.
