Charge Nurse – Specialist Mental Health – Community Mental Health Team

About the role

As a Band 6 Specialist Mental Health Nurse within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will deliver compassionate, person‑centred care to individuals with complex mental health needs in the community. Working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan and support recovery‑focused interventions while contributing to a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive assessments, risk evaluations and care planning for patients with complex mental health needs.
• Act as Named Nurse or keyworker, managing a defined caseload and coordinating care effectively.
• Deliver and evaluate person‑centred, recovery‑focused interventions in community settings.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and carers, promoting dignity, respect and inclusion.
• Administer and monitor treatments and medications in line with policy and best practice.
• Provide supervision, support and leadership to junior staff and students.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure holistic, integrated care delivery.

Required profile

• Registered Mental Health Nurse with a valid NMC pin (RNMH or RN3 level).
• Live NMC registration, PVG scheme membership and Disclosure Scotland check.
• Driving licence due to wide geographical catchment.
• Demonstrable experience in mental health services supporting complex patient needs.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to continuous learning.
• Strong assessment, care coordination and clinical decision‑making abilities.
• Leadership experience, including supervision and delegation of tasks.
