Chief Avionic Design Engineer

About the role

Airbus Helicopters UK is seeking a Chief Avionic Design Engineer to lead the Avionic & Electrical Design team at its Oxford site. The role will drive innovative helicopter customisations from concept through to manufacture, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead avionics and electrical engineering activities from quotation and concept phases through design, integration and testing, following Airbus procedures.
• Own the technical quality and certification of all designs, meeting customer and regulatory requirements.
• Provide accurate avionic and electrical contributions to project timelines, cost estimates and quotes.
• Develop and mentor a small team of engineers, delivering training and capability assurance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of custom solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading avionics and electrical design projects in the aerospace or helicopter sector.
• Strong understanding of certification processes and regulatory standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets and stakeholder expectations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and develop engineering talent.
