Chief Information Security Officer

About the role

The BBC is seeking a senior leader to head its enterprise Cyber, Risk and Resilience function. Reporting to the Board, the CISO will shape a unified security and resilience strategy across the Media Tech Group during a period of major product and technology transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the enterprise Cyber, Risk and Resilience strategy, ensuring alignment with Group Product & Technology priorities.
• Set enterprise standards, guardrails and governance for cyber security, technology resilience, service availability, business continuity, disaster recovery and supplier risk management.
• Provide independent challenge to key decisions, surface risk trade‑offs and embed resilience into products, platforms and services from inception.
• Work closely with executive leadership and the Board to identify, prioritise and own material risks across the organisation.
• Build a culture where risk is explicit, understood and actively considered in strategic and operational decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in information security, cyber risk or enterprise resilience within a large, complex organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to influence Board‑level stakeholders and drive strategic change.
• Strong track record of integrating security and resilience into product and technology development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
