Children & Young Peoples Independent Sexual Violence Advisor

About the role

This fixed‑term position provides proactive crisis‑intervention and advocacy for children and young people who have experienced sexual violence across Swindon and Wiltshire. Working within a multi‑agency team, the advisor supports victims from the point of reporting through to court and helps them access entitled services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a proactive crisis‑intervention service to child victims of sexual violence.
• Risk‑assess each case and develop individualized support plans.
• Advocate for victims throughout the criminal‑justice process and liaise with partner agencies.
• Manage a busy caseload of clients aged 0‑18, including face‑to‑face, telephone and email support.
• Travel throughout Swindon and Wiltshire to provide on‑site assistance.
• Maintain accurate records using the client information system.

Required profile

• Comprehensive understanding of sexual violence dynamics and its impact on victims and families.
• Experience working with children and vulnerable people in safeguarding contexts.
• Strong partnership and advocacy skills in a multi‑agency environment.
• Ability to work flexibly, including hybrid or remote arrangements where appropriate.
• Commitment to inclusive, victim‑focused service delivery.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary £25,954 – £28,002 per year, rising after probation and accreditation.
• 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:00.
• 25 days holiday (rising to 30 days after 5 years) plus bank holidays.
• Hybrid working from The Gables, Swindon.
• 18‑month fixed‑term contract.
