Civil Design Engineer – Water Infrastructure (North West)

About the role

Tetra Tech is seeking Civil Design Engineers to deliver wastewater and clean‑water network projects across major UK frameworks. Working in the North West, you will join multidisciplinary teams to design, optimise and document water infrastructure that supports long‑term environmental and community goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop optioneering studies, outline and detailed designs for water and wastewater networks.
• Produce high‑quality calculations, drawings and construction‑ready documentation.
• Support feasibility studies and asset‑management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and supply‑chain partners to ensure efficient delivery.
• Mentor early‑career engineers and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in water infrastructure projects, preferably within a consultancy or delivery environment.
• Knowledge of UK water industry codes, standards and best practices.
• Professional body membership (e.g., CIWEM, IET, InstMC) is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate client requirements into practical solutions.

Required skills

• Wastewater and/or clean‑water network design.
• Understanding of UK water industry standards and specifications.
• Design and digital proficiency for producing calculations and construction documentation.
• Experience with feasibility studies, optioneering and detailed design processes.
