Class 1 Shunter Driver – Glass Transport

About the role

GXO Logistics is seeking a safety‑focused Class 1 Shunter Driver to join its Knottingley site on the Verallia contract. You will be responsible for moving palletised glass between local company sites and, when required, completing customer deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles to transport glass pallets safely between sites.
• Perform regular shunting duties, including trailer movements and vehicle positioning within site boundaries.
• Carry out occasional customer deliveries in line with schedules and requirements.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects promptly.
• Secure loads correctly and adhere to all road transport legislation, driver hours regulations, and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with transport planners, warehouse teams, and site personnel.

Required profile

• Full EU driving licence with category C+E entitlement.
• Valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Minimum of 2 years driving and/or shunting experience.
• No more than 6 current penalty points.
• No disqualifying endorsements (DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC, TT99) within the past 5 years.

Required skills

• Operation of Class 1 (C+E) vehicles.

• Conducting vehicle safety checks.
