Class 2 Driver – Healthcare Waste Collection

About the role

As a Class 2 Driver in the Healthcare division of PHS Group, you will collect and transport health‑related waste, including pharmaceutical, non‑hazardous, hazardous and clinical waste. You will also support Covid testing stations and help keep customer facilities hygienic.

Key responsibilities

• Follow planned routes using PDA devices to confirm collections and manage site access issues.
• Operate soft‑compaction vehicles designed for waste collection.
• Collect and empty Euro bins containing offensive waste and sealed Covid‑testing waste.
• Complete hazardous consignment and transfer notes.
• Return to the allocated depot each day to unload collected waste.

Required profile

• Valid Category C (LGV Class 2) licence and a full driving licence held for at least 12 months.
• Current Driver CPC card and a valid Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 penalty points and no IN or DD endorsements within the last five years.
• Good safety record and willingness to comply with legal requirements.
• Vaccinations against Hepatitis B, tetanus/polio (Hepatitis A advised) – provided by PHS.

Required skills

• Proficient use of PDA devices for route confirmation.
• Ability to operate satellite navigation systems.
• Competent use of a smartphone for communication and documentation.
• Operation of soft‑compaction waste collection vehicles.
