Clerical Officer – Front of House (Band 2)

About the role

The NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking a motivated Clerical Officer to join its Front of House Administration Services team. Working across the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and Mountainhall Treatment Centre, you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff, delivering a professional and welcoming reception service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries at reception.
• Book appointments, admissions and clinic sessions.
• Provide administrative and data‑entry support to clinical teams.
• Prepare and maintain patient documentation and electronic records.
• Coordinate communication between departments and assist with patient flow.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Attention to detail with accurate IT usage.
• Ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment.
• Flexible, team‑oriented “can‑do” attitude.
• Previous administrative or reception experience is desirable.

• Proficiency with standard office IT systems.
