Client Accountant – Hybrid – £50k-£60k

About the role

We are seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant to join a well‑established accountancy practice in Wokingham. This hybrid role offers the chance to manage a diverse portfolio of SME clients while leading and developing a junior team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Oversee preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts and financial statements.
• Review corporation tax returns, VAT returns and other compliance work.
• Provide commercial and financial advice to build long‑term client relationships.
• Supervise, mentor and develop junior accountants, reviewing their work and offering technical support.
• Identify process improvements and add value for clients.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience within an accountancy practice, managing a client portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT and corporation tax.
• Proven ability to review work and support junior team members.
• Excellent communication, relationship‑building and organisational skills.
