Client Manager – Accountancy Practice

About the role

Heelan Associates Ltd is seeking an experienced Client Manager to join its modern, growing accountancy practice. You will work with a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, delivering high‑quality client service while leading a team of accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited company clients.
• Prepare, review and submit statutory accounts and tax returns.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of accountancy professionals.
• Review work completed by team members and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure client deadlines and service level agreements are consistently met.
• Support clients with tax planning and commercially focused advice.
• Advise on cash flow, budgeting and business performance.
• Maintain client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact.
• Lead year‑end meetings and conduct client fee reviews.
• Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, FMAAT or equivalent) with current professional membership.
• Experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong background in preparing and reviewing accounts and tax returns for varied clients.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver advisory services.
• Previous leadership, mentoring or team supervision experience is advantageous.
• Highly organised with excellent time‑management and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Dext.
