Client Manager – Rural Services (Hybrid)

About the role

The Client Manager will join a specialist rural services team within an independent accountancy practice. This hybrid role combines compliance, tax advisory and client relationship management for a portfolio of landed estates, farms, rural businesses and equine clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of rural clients, delivering accounts, VAT, self‑assessment and tax advisory services.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts and tax computations, ensuring technical accuracy.
• Provide bespoke tax advice across Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Trusts & Estates and VAT.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted adviser on commercial and tax matters.
• Review work, mentor junior staff and support the development of the wider team.
• Manage workflow, WIP, billing and client deadlines.
• Identify business development opportunities and support growth of the rural services team.
• Collaborate with partners and other service lines on complex client matters.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (CTA highly beneficial).
• Experience managing a portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102 and FRS 105), VAT and personal tax.
• Exposure to tax advisory work, including CGT, IHT and Income Tax planning.
• Excellent client‑facing, communication and relationship management skills.
• Commercial awareness with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
