CNC Machinist – Precision Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a growing precision engineering manufacturer in Burnley. The role offers the chance to work on high‑specification components for aerospace, defence and other regulated sectors while developing your programming and machining expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC milling machines.
• Load, edit and optimise CNC programmes using Heidenhain controls.
• Produce precision components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and support new product introductions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve process quality and productivity.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Miller working with multi‑axis machining centres.
• Background in precision engineering, aerospace or defence manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Local residence or willingness to commute to Burnley.

Required skills

• Heidenhain CNC control programming.
• Operation of 3‑axis CNC milling machines.
• Operation of 4‑axis CNC milling machines.
• Operation of 5‑axis CNC milling machines.
• Setup and operation of CNC machining centres.
