CNC Programmer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Bristol. You will develop and optimise machining programmes for complex components, working closely with production, engineering and quality teams to ensure high‑quality output.

Key responsibilities

• Create, develop and maintain CNC programmes for milling and turning applications.
• Generate programmes for complex precision components from a variety of materials.
• Optimise cycle times, tooling strategies and machining methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements and customer specifications.
• Select and specify cutting tools, fixtures and work‑holding solutions.
• Provide technical support to CNC setters and operators during production.
• Troubleshoot programme, tooling and machining issues.
• Conduct process proving and first‑off validation of new programmes.
• Support continuous‑improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Maintain accurate programme records, setup documentation and process sheets.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a precision engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of CNC milling and/or turning processes.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
