Commercial Manager – Government Contract (12‑month)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support a government client on a 12‑month contract. The role is hybrid, with four days on‑site in Corsham and one day remote each week. You will work within an IR35 umbrella arrangement and must hold Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the current commercial landscape and its impact on programme delivery.
• Design and implement commercial approaches to achieve optimal outcomes for the department.
• Lead supplier integration, managing relationships and cost implications.
• Analyse contract termination options and collaborate with finance leads to quantify benefits.
• Provide commercial expertise throughout the procurement lifecycle, supporting project teams to secure approvals.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of commercial management experience, preferably in public sector or defence.
• Proven track record of leading complex procurement projects from inception to delivery.
• Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Level 4 qualification.
• Experience with service‑management contracts rather than digital services.
• Ability to operate under high pressure and manage competing stakeholder expectations.
