Conservation Architect

About the role

We are seeking a Conservation Architect to join our award‑winning RIBA Chartered practice, working from our Brighton studio with occasional days in London. The role will focus on high‑profile heritage projects, including Grade II* listed buildings, historic hotels, community assets and luxury residential schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of conservation and heritage projects across the UK.
• Interpret and apply UK planning legislation related to listed buildings and conservation areas.
• Develop design solutions that respect traditional construction methods such as masonry, timber, lime mortars and historic detailing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships.
• Produce construction documentation and coordinate with contractors.

Required profile

• ARB‑registered architect with several years of post‑qualification UK experience.
• Proven experience delivering conservation and heritage projects, preferably Grade II* listed buildings.
• Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation for listed buildings and conservation areas.
• Accreditation with Architects Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) or inclusion on the RIBA Specialist Conservation Register.
• Willingness to work from the Brighton office 1‑2 days per week, with flexibility to use the London office.

Required skills

• Revit (desirable but not essential).
