Construction Manager – Commercial Fit‑Out & Refurbishment

About the role

Our client, a leading main contractor in Central London, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead commercial fit‑out, refurbishment and cut‑and‑carve projects from pre‑construction through to handover. You will work closely with the Project Director and site team to ensure safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery of high‑quality workplace environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all site‑based construction activities for projects valued £5‑20 million.
• Lead subcontractor selection, coordination and performance monitoring.
• Develop short‑term programmes and site logistics plans, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Chair and attend site coordination meetings, monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate interfaces between structural, MEP and fit‑out packages.
• Engage with clients, consultants and other stakeholders, supporting the commercial team with change, risk and opportunity management.
• Drive quality assurance processes to achieve snag‑free project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager for a main contractor on commercial fit‑out, refurbishment or cut‑and‑carve projects.
• Successful delivery of projects between £5 million and £20 million.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, logistics and programme management.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple stakeholders in live or occupied environments.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Building or related discipline (desirable).
